The 8-semester Dual System bachelor’s programme in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology is an undergraduate degree programme accompanied by practical professional training. It offers students the possibility to combine technical vocational training with university studies in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology. Through the part-time programme parallel to vocational training, the usual pattern of training followed by studies – which is very time-intensive – is avoided, yet without practical relevance or theoretical instruction being neglected. The partner enterprises and the relevant chambers of industry and commerce are in charge of and responsible for the vocational training. The foundation modules centre on broad instruction in the fundamentals of natural sciences, mathematics, electrical engineering and information technology. The advanced modules reflect different foci and serve to deepen students’ subject-related knowledge in their respective area of specialisation.
In these areas of specialisation, students acquire subject-related expertise in the following fields:
- Automation Technology
- Electrical Power Engineering
- Information Technology
- Communications Technology
Within a technical elective, students can expand their skills in the respective areas of specialisation or deepen further their engineering expertise. In parallel, transferable skills are taught in the framework of modules on “English as a Foreign Language” and “Fundamentals of Business Administration” as well as a non-technical elective. The programme ends with an eight-week practical project and the final thesis.
